Ayam Tangkap (Catch Chicken), Fried Chicken Behind Leaves

If you visit to the region of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar, one of the typical culinary that can be found is Ayam Tangkap, fried chicken behind foliages. Some may be curious to hear this one menu, it name is unique for dishes. It has been duly processed chicken were catch before then eaten. Apart of the origin of its name, the menus can be found easily in around Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar, almost all the Acehness food stalls provides the menu on it.

Ayam Tangkap is a culinary-based chicken’s meat cut into small pieces, usually the chicken used is fryer. Then the chicken is marinated in special herbs after it was fried and served with green chilli, pandan leaves and bay leaves that surrounding by people known as teumurui leaves.

Ayam Tangkap  start popular since the tsunami happened in Aceh on December 26, 2004. After the incident, some Acehness food stalls popped out which makes Ayam tangkap as the main menu, such as Ayam Tangkap Cut Dek and Ayam Tangkap Blang Bintang.
